DESCRIPTION: “Nakba” (catastrophe) refers to events in 1947-1948 that transpired when the British vacated Palestine and Israel became a state. More than 750\,000 Palestinians left their homes and more than 400 villages were destroyed. Families are left with their keys and their memories. This “temporary” expulsion is 70 years old this year and the ethnic cleansing of Palestine continues today.\nPlease join us as we stand in solidarity with those who lost homes and villages. We will name 418 villages that were destroyed.

SUMMARY:USA Boston MA -Remembering and Resisting: 70 Years of Ongoing Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine
DESCRIPTION:Palestinians and their allies in Boston are marking the 70th commemoration of the Nakba – the catastrophic Israeli ethnic cleansing of Palestine. In 1948\, almost a million Palestinians were violently dispossessed of their homes and land by Zionist settler colonialists. The emerging Israeli state stripped Palestinians of their possessions and livelihood. Many Palestinians were expelled or fled to neighboring areas and have struggled to survive and return ever since. Those who managed to stay in their homes have been subjected to Israeli rule and continue to be treated as second-class citizens today.  \nSeventy years later\, the Nakba continues. From Gaza to the West Bank to Israel\, from refugee camps to the diaspora\, Palestinians have continued to experience gradual genocide and dispossession in numerous ways. As Israelis celebrate\, for the seventieth time\, the anniversary of their “independence” from their settler colonial sponsor\, Palestinians mark their forced expulsion and loss of their livelihood and homeland. \nThe undersigned groups have thus united and organized “Remembering and Resisting the 70 years of Ongoing Nakba” to draw the attention of Bostonians to the Palestinian experience of the Nakba. Our goal is to draw attention to the many and varied ways in which Palestinians have encountered and continued to resist Israeli apartheid and ethnic cleansing. \nOrganized by: Palestinian Community of Boston\, joined by the Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine\, Boston-wide SJP\, Grassroots International\, Jewish Voice for Peace-Boston\, Massachusetts Peace Action\, Unitarians Universalists for Justice in the Middle East\, and United for Justice with Peace. \nThe exhibit will be displayed on Saturday\, May 12. The schedule is as follows: \n11:30 – Exhibit and Museum in Copley Square (Boston) \n12:30 – Solemn Procession Commemorating the March of Return through Downtown Crossing  \n1:00 – Speak-out at Park Street Station
